Applications are invited for a Full Time Permanent "Leading Hand" to join the Works and Services Department in the Shire of Tammin.

This position reports directly to the Works and Services Manager. The Leading Hand is partly responsible for the performance and outcomes of the Works Division of the Shire of Tammin.

This is a hands on position and you will be required to supervise staff, operate machinery and carry out maintenance for the Shire alongside the other dedicated works crew.

The Position Description provides more detail of the requirements of the person for the position, however the core responsibilities include:

  • Supervise, control and be part of the Shire's works construction and maintenance programmes
  • Supervise the outside workforce activities and works programme
  • Provide support to the Works and Services Manager
  • Plant and equipment maintenance
  • Complete administration tasks as required (time sheets, general depot administration and customer enquiries)
  • General maintenance as required (minor repairs to buildings and infrastructure)
  • Road inspections
